Women's Day 2022

Shine the Light God Gave You

Christian B. Aaron, Guest Speaker

39th Annual Women's Day - Sunday, May 15, 2022

Our Women's Day Celebration this year will be hosted virtually. By God's grace and mercy "Women of God Embracing Change" will be filled with the spirit of our grand 39-year tradition. We welcome Guest Speaker, Christian B. Aaron, and you'll learn more about her below.

We are blessed to recognize the 2022 Women's Day Leadership, Sister Saundra Flegler, Chair, Deaconess Felicia Momoh, Co-Chair, Sister Yolanda Mason, and Sister Karen Wooten, Co-Chair. With thanksgiving to God, we also honor our very own Pastor Rev. Dr. John J. Cox, and First Lady Lakisha Cox, without whom this celebration would not be possible.

We welcome our Nurturers and Women's Day Souvenir Journal Contributors. Your sacrificial giving has never meant more as we celebrate VABC's blessed reopening. As is our tradition, we offer two primary ways to generously support this celebration:

1>Pledges, which can be made through a Nurturer of your choice or directly

2>The Souvenir Journal (Tributes, Memorials, Business Advertisements, including artwork)

As God leads,  click the PLEDGE button to select your Pledge Category from the list below.

Women's Day Leadership

Sis. Saundra Flegler, Women's Day Chair

From my earliest days at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church as a young adult, I would always say to my mother, one day if God finds me worthy, I would be honored to be chair of our Women's Day. I have always had the desire and worked hard with every opportunity afforded. Over the years, I have produced Fashion Shows, numerous Music Concerts, Honoring others, and giving my very best to God for allowing me to bring people together in love and in harmony.

I've been blessed to worship at Vermont Avenue for 38 of the 39 years we've celebrated Women's Day. Over the years, I've worked on the Women's Day Committee, and sing with several of our choirs, including the Women's Day Mass Choir. I've served with the South Carolina Club, and am now President of the Silver Leaf Club. I am a regular member of the Agape Sunday School Class and our Tuesday night Bible class.

This is truly an honor and I give total thanks to God for placing me on the minds of Pastor and Lady Cox and I am ever grateful to the Women of VABC for their commitment to travel on this journey with me as “Women of God Embracing Change.”

My prayer is for the anticipation of all the rich possibilities as we glorify our God, while celebrating each other, as in years past, and that we will continue to excite as we reimagine the possibilities of what can be for many more years to come.

To God Be the Glory!
